Garda investigating possible corruption at Garda academy
An investigation is under way into the possibility of potential corruption at the Garda Siochana Academy.
The Garda Commissioner Noirín O’Sullivan announced the probe after an independent inquiry found “significant deficiencies” in the Gardai’s recruitment and retention processes.
The Independent Monitoring Committee for the Gardasí recruitment process is looking into allegations of a culture of corruption within the Gardaeí and its own recruitment and training programmes.
Ms O’Neill said she was “confident” that the investigation will lead to an “appropriate response”.
The Gardai will be conducting their own internal investigation into the matter and they will make their findings public.
The report was published yesterday and will be submitted to the Gardan Board of Directors for their consideration.
It will be sent to the Minister for Justice for his approval.
