How to Be a Woman in the Navy
Naval Academy President Robert Callahan says he wants to be “the first president to lead this academy in a way that is not the way it has always been.”
In an op-ed in the New York Times, Callahan said he hopes the academy’s next president will be someone who is “a woman who wants to do this right.”
He said he will “do whatever it takes” to ensure the cadets and officers who are most impacted by the gender pay gap will get “full representation.”
Callahan also called on other academy members to make gender equity a priority and said he believes the Navy is “doing a good job.”
The president said he “never would have dreamed” that he would be running for the top job of the academy.
But he said he is “hopeful that the next President of the United States of America will be somebody who believes in equality.”
